A membrane type degasser for removing non-condensable gasses from the feed water entering the Clean/Pure steam generators. The degasser provides degassed feed water to meet the requirements of EN285/HTM2010.
The membrane degasser can basically be described as a distributing tube of polypropylene with minor pores for transporting the gasses dissolved in the feed-water. The average pores are 0.03µm only allowing gasses to pass.
The gasses diluted in the feed-water basically consist of two levels; the gasses dissolved in the water reaching the natural equilibrium level, secondly the excess gasses above the saturation level. The first level of gasses is simply removed having the water in contact with the atmosphere whereas the differential equalizes the level of gasses. The second part of the gasses is removed by compensating the equilibrium by applying vacuum. The vacuum decreases the partial pressure of the gasses in the surrounding air, thereby creating a driving force to move gasses from the liquid to the gas phase.
The degassed steam fulfils all the EN285 requirements for pure steam. The level of non/condensable gasses is below 3.5 %
NCG content < 3.5%
All requirements of the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as established by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the European Community are fulfilled.
Electrical design and assembly are in compliance with international norms and directives. For the US market the electric control panel is designed, built and certified according to UL-Industrial Control Panels.
The actual distributing tube is constructed from inert polypropylene and is sanitisable with hot water.
Throughout the rest of the surfaces in contact with feed water is used SS 316L with carbon content < 0.03% to protect against carbide precipitation during welding and subsequent corrosion.
Documentation:
- Material certificates on all product parts.
- Welding log with third party inspection if required.
- All surfaces in contact with feed are documented.
- Electropolishing of metal parts if required.
Qualification (IQ/OQ) can be performed with QA approved customized protocols.
